The volcano Snæfelljökull is the highest peak of the Snæfellsness peninsula and rise about 1446m asl. The hike to get to the summit start from Arnastapi and take about 6h depending on the season. It is a glacier traveling trip because from the elevation of about 1000m a small ice cap covers the summit. In average is considered a difficult (4/5) trip even though is never extreme. Good fitness is required but the hike is accessible to most of the people with about 1000m elevation gain and being about 10km long back and forth.
